Developing the Employment Academy

Thames Reach purchased this Grade II listed property in Camberwell during summer 2010 and obtained planning permission to transform it for use into our Employment Academy.

Lakehouse building contractors were selected to carry out the main construction programme, which commenced in May 2011. Building work included refurbishment of the historic areas of the property, demolition of a rear portion of the site, and the creation of a new build section and central courtyard.

We have developed a flexible mixture of office and training room spaces, some of which are available for local community use. In addition, the building houses a cafe run by Brewbird Coffee, which is open to the public, and to people working and using the services at the Employment Academy.

A project group consisting of key Employment Academy partners, including Southwark and Lambeth Councils, meet on a regular basis to consider design and strategic issues.

In addition to our consultation meetings, building tours, and updates, interested parties can talk to us on twitter.

Thames Reach put together a highly experienced and dedicated team to work on redeveloping this locally historic building.
