A fundraising event at the Employment Academy in Camberwell this week featured Thames Reach Chairman Ken Olisa unveiling a plaque in memory of his mother who died last year after a life of tireless campaigning for social justice.

After a ceremony in the newly titled Barbara Olisa Room, Thames Reach director Bill Tidnam announced a new Barbara Olisa Annual Award for people who have made the biggest contribution to social justice.

Thames Reach Chairman, Ken Olisa, spoke about his mother and how her life had parallels with the work of Thames Reach: “She fought to fix many things and for justice and fairness. Like Thames Reach, she had a desire to help other people and to help restore their self-esteem and its fitting we’re here at the Employment Academy which gives access to work and dignity.”
