Business skills course to start at Employment Academy

A course teaching people the basics of starting up their own business is set to begin at the Employment Academy in January.

Business In A Box is organised by Prosper 4 Group, a group of social enterprises delivering training, and offering employment and business opportunities.

Across the duration of the programme, Business In A Box seeks to teach the various fundamental components of launching a start-up business, including: planning; product delivery; marketing; banking; insurance; and seed funding, with tuition provided by experienced entrepreneurs.

On completion, course graduates will be introduced to the Start Up Loans Company, from which they can potentially secure business funding of up to £25,000, as well as ongoing support and advice from Prosper 4 Group.

Nearly 20 new firms have now been set up by Business In A Box graduates.

Michael Corrigan, founder of Prosper 4 Group, said: "This is our first course with the Thames Reach Employment Academy. We are excited about supporting people into a new world of entrepreneurship.

"Prosper's work doesn't stop after the course - we help and encourage all our participants until they have been successful in their chosen field," he added.

The course will run at the Employment Academy on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 13.00-16.00, for three weeks, from January 5. For more information, please visit: www.prosper4.com
