A top team of architects have helped guide the restoration and development of the Thames Reach Employment Academy in Camberwell, which is due to officially open later this spring and which will help thousands of unemployed and formerly homeless people find work.

Peter Barber Architects developed the designs and concepts behind the dramatic transformation of the Grade II listed building set over 20,000 square feet on its Peckham Road site.

Without the architectural and consultative expertise offered by Peter Barber, Thames Reach would have not been able to realise the vision for the Employment Academy.

Peter Barber said: “It has been heart-warming to watch this beautiful building restored to its former glory and really brilliant that it will be returned to public use, pretty much in the spirit which leads to its inception over a hundred years ago. This is an incredibly ambitious initiative and it’s wonderful to see Thames Reach’s vision coming to fruition.”

Thames Reach's property development manager Steven McIntosh said: "Peter Barber Architects have shown great dedication and imagination during the course of this challenging project. They have worked tirelessly to restore the historic building and have designed a striking, brand new annexe around a beautiful central courtyard. The completed project has been rightly widely praised by both visitors to the academy and design professionals alike."
