Job fair a success at the Employment Academy

30 October 2015

The Thames Reach Employment Academy in Camberwell successfully hosted a job fair last week, with 175 people attending. The event brought together jobseekers with actively recruiting employers based within the London Borough of Southwark.

Attendees were able to engage at first hand with exhibiting employers, registering their interest for positions and submitting CVs with the potential for future job interviews.

There were 20 exhibitors at the event, from sectors including: construction; retail; security; administration; and hospitality.

One person has already been successful in securing a new job after meeting an employer at the fair, while other attendees have interviews arranged.

Feedback from the event was good, with exhibitors pleased at the higher than expected turnout, and attendees happy for the chance to speak with potential employers in a relaxed and informal environment.

Muhit Rahman, manager of the Thames Reach job broker service, who organised the fair, said: “The atmosphere was vibrant and engaging, and the event created encouraging opportunities for people to speak openly to employers.”
