Job fair at Employment Academy

22 September 2015

The Thames Reach Employment Academy is hosting a job fair on Friday, October 23 connecting jobseekers living in the London Borough of Southwark with local employers looking to recruit.

The event, being run by the Thames Reach job broker service, and in association with the Notting Hill Partnership, will be open to the public from 10am-4pm, and exhibition stands remain available for employers interested in taking part.

The fair will offer both unemployed and currently employed individuals the opportunity to meet and engage directly with Southwark-based employers. Attendees will be able to talk to recruiters in person and submit CVs. A minimum of 100-150 jobseekers are expected on the day.

There will be in excess of 25 employers exhibiting at the fair, from across a range of industries and sectors – construction; retail; security; facilities; administration and office work; and hospitality. A number of well-known companies are expected to be in attendance, including Café Nero and Pret a Manger.

Manager of the Thames Reach job broker service, Muhit Rahman, emphasised the importance of the event in helping local people find work within Southwark.

Muhit said: “One thing I’ve come across is people having to travel long distances outside the borough for work, and this fair seeks to address that.

“For employers, it offers direct face-to-face access to a pool of job candidates, saving them time and cost on recruitment. It’s also a great promotional opportunity.

“Jobseekers can speak directly to employers, with plenty of time to impress in person,” he added.
