A new course aimed at people interested in finding work in the construction industry will be holding a training and assessment session at the Employment Academy this week.

The aim of the one-day course is to help people interested in working in construction to access further training or find work opportunities in the industry.

The course is free and open to all, and is being run by Thames Reach’s Moving in Moving on (MIMO) project. MIMO helps homeless and vulnerable men and women develop their painting and decorating skills over a six-week course that combines specialist teaching with practical work projects.

Employment and Resettlement Team Senior Practitioner Michael Hegarty said: “We want to identify the appropriate action for those attending, whether it is helping them to get more specialist training or helping people access job opportunities. We’re looking for people who have construction work skills or experience but who may not have been working recently.”

The MIMO construction course will be running from 11am-3.30pm on Friday 31 May at the Employment Academy, 29 Peckham Road, Southwark, SE5 8UA.

For more information and to register your interest in attending, please contact Thames Reach’s Employment and Resettlement helpdesk on 020 7062 0549 or email ERhelpdesk@thamesreach.org.uk
