New women's running club at the Employment Academy

A Mile in Her Shoes

17 March 2014

A new running group for women who are socially excluded or have experienced homelessness is launching at the Thames Reach Employment Academy this week.

The charity A Mile in Her Shoes is teaming up with Thames Reach to offer six, weekly running fitness classes that are suitable for everyone, whatever your fitness levels. People don't have to attend to every class and can come along when they are able to.

The running classes offer women a great way to exercise, meet other people and feel good about themselves. Running also has many physical and mental health benefits.

Appropriate running shoes and clothing is available to those that need it.

The run takes place every Wednesday at 4.00pm from the Employment Academy, 29 Peckham Road, London SE5 8UA .

Thames Reach employment and resettlement lead worker Lucy Burns said: “We’re really excited to be teaming up with A Mile in Her Shoes to offer this new, running club for women who have experienced homelessness. As the long winter finally gives way to spring, it’s the ideal time to get outside, exercise and meet new people and we’d love to see some of our female service users come along to the weekly sessions.”
