The Thames Reach Employment Academy is to become home for an influential Southwark community group.

The Southwark Police Community Consultative Group which facilitates regular discussions between the police, council and the local community, moves into the restored Edwardian building in the week running up to Christmas.

Two staff from the independent group will be based at their new offices in Camberwell, and members of the management committee will be regular visitors.

Thames Reach director, Bill Tidnam, said: “It’s great to welcome this important local group to the Employment Academy and to demonstrate how this is a resource that is useful to, and used by the community”

Mayor of Southwark and Vice-Chair of Southwark Police Community Consultative Group, Althea Smith, said: “We were looking for new offices and the Thames Reach Employment Academy ticked all the right boxes. I’m excited about the way in which this building has been redeveloped and I’m looking forward to more community groups joining us, whether they be renting office space or taking advantage of the facility to hot-desk.”
