Thames Reach has taken possession of the building housing its new Employment Academy in Camberwell.

Steven McIntosh, Thames Reach’s Property Development Manager, was handed the keys for the building by contractors Lakehouse who have spent the past 18 months refurbishing the Grade II listed building, demolishing an annexe and building a new extension.

The Thames Reach Employment Academy is expected to open its doors to the public early in the new year though is letting out its event space, offices and meeting rooms with immediate effect – contact Anneke at enquiries@thamesreach.org.uk

A number of events have already been booked including a conference for the people who use Thames Reach‘s services.

The next few weeks will see the Thames Reach Employment Academy recruit staff and volunteers and bring in a new IT and phone system. The charity will be building stronger links with the local community and a new cafe is being set up which will be open to the public.

Steven McIntosh, said: “I’m excited that Thames Reach has taken possession of this fantastic building which will be the home of our Employment Academy, helping local, long term unemployed people and formerly homeless men and women develop their skills and find work.

“The Thames Reach Employment Academy will play a vital role at the heart of the local community in helping disadvantaged people get their lives back on track.”
