Premier supermarket Waitrose have been running a series of training sessions at the Employment Academy helping people interested in working in retail and customer services to develop the skills needed to find work.

The training helps people to develop their communications skills and confidence through a series of interactive tasks and activities over the course of the day.

It's run by Waitrose Development Facilitator Callum Lafferty who has been helping Waitrose staff to develop their customer service skills for many years.

Callum said: “The sessions are going really well and the Employment Academy is a great venue to run the training from. The training is tailored to the people I’m working with on the day and we get people to work both individually and as groups on different tasks. The skills and techniques we teach are fully transferable into any job.”

Thames Reach service user Davena Carberry said: “The training has been brilliant. It’s been really informative and some of the skills I’ve developed during the day will help me in my work as a volunteer with the Thames Reach Employment and Resettlement team.”
