Week of creative workshops to take place at the Employment Academy

20 May 2016

The Thames Reach Employment Academy in Camberwell is running a series of short creative taster sessions for the public as part of the Festival of Learning in early July.

The week-long event is open to the public and aims to encourage adult learners to try their hand at something new.

A wide range of subjects are being covered, with workshops offering an introduction to art, bike maintenance, barista training, creative writing, decorative paint effects, drama, Facebook and Twittter, knitting, reading, stand-up comedy and stenciling.

Participating organisations include Cardboard Citizens, a theatre group working with and for homeless people, and Brewbird, a café offering job opportunities to disadvantaged members of the local community.

The event runs from Monday July 4 to Friday July 8 at the Employment Academy at 29 Peckham Road, Camberwell, London, SE5 8UA.

Virginia Croft, Thames Reach’s skills programme developer, said: “This is a great opportunity to try something new and to benefit from the wonderful opportunities that learning can bring to individuals and communities.”
